As a recipient of the 2010 APALA Travel Grant and as a 2011 APALA Emerging Leader, APALA helped instill in me the idea that I could be a leader in our profession. The investment that APALA made in me, the network APALA helped me to grow through just these two opportunities is something I’m not sure I can ever re-pay and just hope to pay it forward to other new librarians who may not think they have a voice that needs to be heard in our profession.
