Keala Kendall is hapa Kanaka Maoli (mixed-race Native Hawaiian), one of the cofounders of Pacific Islanders in Publishing, and a former organizer for the Books for Maui charity auction. She is also the author of the forthcoming YA novel, HOW FAR I’LL GO (Disney-Hyperion, releasing Fall ’25), writing for Disney’s New York Times bestselling A Twisted Tales series. Manuia Heinrich Sue is a Mā‘ohi Polynesian writer based in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. She writes non-fiction and speculative fiction for children, drawing from her home islands’ cultures and folklore. She’s a researcher and educator with a PhD in Pacific Studies from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington—something she’s eternally recovering from—and two Master’s degrees in Pacific literature and education. An advocate for Indigenous Pacific Islander voices, she co-founded the pitch event APIpit and the non-profit organization Pacific Islanders in Publishing. She is represented by Marin Takikawa at The Friedrich Agency. Kealani Netane is a Native Hawaiian and Samoan author who was raised on the leeward side of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi where she currently resides. She writes children’s books and is the author of Tala Learns to Siva, illustrated by Dung Ho (Scholastic, Summer 2024). She is represented by Ellen Goff at HG Literary. Kealani is a co-founder of Pacific Islanders in Publishing, which amplifies current Pacific Islander book creators and she runs the bookstagram, Little Pasifika Readers, where she shares current Pacific Islander children’s books. WebsiteTwitterIGTikTok
