Join APALA for an Online Workshop: Understanding & Maximizing AANHPI Mental Health

Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders comprise the fastest growing racial group in the United States. Unique historical, intergenerational and cultural factors have tremendous impact on the mental health status of AANHPI communities. Few mental health and well-being resources address the needs. This workshop will briefly address key features of AANHPI mental health and types of supports for maximizing wellness.

About:
Dr. Hsu is Director of Outreach, Asian American specialist and lecturer at Stanford University Counseling and Psychological Services. She is Past President of the American Psychological Association Div. 45 (Society for the Study of Race, Culture and Ethnicity) and a past president of the Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA). Dr. Hsu also served on the APA Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression. She is an advisory board member of the JED foundation focused on youth suicide prevention. Dr. Hsu’s work has focused primarily on intersectional diverse communities, culturally responsive treatment, parent education, grief, corporate and entertainment consultation, mentorship of psychology students and community-wide mental health education and empowerment. Her book The Asian American Healing Trauma workbook was published by New Harbinger in July 2024. She shares mental health education videos on YouTube as Hella Mental Health.
