Cynthia Mari Orozco has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 APALA Travel Award. Cynthia is a current graduate student in Library and Information Science at San Jose State University, specializing in academic libraries and archival studies. She completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science and Sociology at the University of California, Irvine and graduate studies in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University. Her research interests include information literacy instruction, intellectual freedom and censorship, and the role of archives and oral history in social justice and human rights. Cynthia hopes to become increasingly involved in APALA and support Asian Pacific American librarians and communities.
