On July 19th, APALA Northeast Chapter members and friends enjoyed a visit to the Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America, Harvard Radcliffe Institute, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The special gathering was hosted by Victor Betts, Curator for Collections on Ethnicity and Migration and Reference Librarian Mimosa Shah. Shah gave an inspiring curatorial tour of the Rewrite, Organize, Remix: Visions of Feminist Organizing exhibition in the Lia and William Poorvu Gallery. And Betts showcased selected archival materials from the Schlesinger Library’s collection and spoke reflectively about the experiences of Asian and Pacific American women in the United States.
In Spring 2025, the Northeast Chapter plans to return to the Poorvu Gallery to visit the Illuminate: Contextualizing Asian American Women’s Stories through the Archives exhibit.
